DMR completed the renovation of the corporate headquarters of Hatch Mott MacDonald (HMM), now rebranded as Mott MacDonald, a leading North American consulting engineering firm. Mott MacDonald employs more than 2,700 staff across 76 offices in Canada and the United States.
For several years, the firm experienced significant growth and continued development, quadrupling their size in 10 years. As the firm expanded, their corporate headquarters in Millburn, N.J. was unable to accommodate their needs. Efforts to address space concerns in their former location proved to be inadequate and inefficient.
DMR provided full programming of all business units for the 70,000 square foot, three-story space, as well as adjacency analysis, space planning and interior design. DMR's design transformed private offices
around the exterior perimeter to interior, private offices around a center core, leaving the exterior perimeter glass wall for open plan workstations. The new corporate headquarters in Iselin, N.J. accommodates 330 employees.
The Hatch Mott MacDonald renovation proved to be an interesting and challenging project for DMR as it required a new relationship between architect and engineer when a consulting engineering firm became DMR's client.
