On March 26, DMR joined representatives of the Bridgeton Public Schools and the New Jersey Schools Development Authority for a beam signing ceremony at Buckshutem Road Elementary School in Bridgeton, N.J.
The event celebrated the construction progression of projects at Buckshutem Road Elementary School and Quarter Mile Lane Elementary School. DMR served as design consultant on the Ernest Bock & Son's team for the design/build project which includes additions and renovations to each school.
At the beam signing, approximately 100 grade-schoolers were selected to leave their mark on two large construction beams which will ultimately be constructed in each of the schools.
"I am ecstatic, elated and delighted by the progress we are making," Bridgeton Schools Superintendent Dr. Thomasina Jones said at the event, as reported by The Daily Journal. "We are going to be able to utilize a state-of-the-art facility in a little bit of time. A hearty thank you to everyone who helped us."
The Buckshutem Road Elementary School project includes approximately 33,000 square feet of new construction and 7,000 square feet of renovations. The school's capacity will increase by almost 200 students. The Quarter Mile Lane Elementary School includes approximately 91,000 square feet of new construction and 33,000 square feet of renovations. The new addition will increase the school's capacity by nearly 500 students.
The construction cost of the projects, funded by the New Jersey Schools Development Authority, totals $45 million. The projects are expected to be completed in time for the 2017-18 school year.
