On Aug. 7, DMR Architects, a top New Jersey architect dedicated to progressive, innovative and sustainable architecture, planning and urban design celebrated the groundbreaking of a $46 million Design / Build project in Bridgeton, N.J. Working as the design consultant for Ernest Bock & Sons, DMR designed additions and renovations to two schools, Buckshutem Road Elementary School and Quarter Mile Lane Elementary School, as part of a contract with the New Jersey Schools Development Authority.
At Quarter Mile Lane Elementary School, DMR designed 91,000 square feet of new construction and 33,000 square feet of renovations to increase the school's capacity by nearly 500 students. The Buckshutem Road Elementary School project included 33,000 square feet of new construction and 7,000 square feet of renovations. The school's capacity will increase by almost 200 students.
"As DMR has been dedicated to designing safe and efficient educational spaces throughout New Jersey for our entire history, it was particularly exciting for us to be involved in such an important project in the State," Obi Agudosi, AIA, Senior Vice President / Principal said. "We are proud of our involvement and commend the entire project team of contractors, designers and engineers that are bringing this dream to a reality."
Both facilities will seek LEED Gold Certification from the U.S. Green Building Council. Construction completion is expected before the start of the 2017 – 2018 school year.
