On October 4, the Bergen County Community Action Partnership, Inc. (BCCAP) celebrated the completion of their Weatherization and Green Technology Training Center in Garfield.
Designed by DMR Architects, the Weatherization Center is a federally funded center, transformed from a nearly 10,000 square foot former warehouse into a state-of-the art training center and office space. At the official ribbon cutting, BCCAP celebrated the graduation of the eighth class of the Weatherization Training Program. The training program, which has graduated 80 graduates, utilizes the facility's latest technologies and labs, which includes a fully equipped home, to learn weatherization techniques. BCCAP's program is part of a nationwide stimulus which has weatherized one million homes in America, and 1,000 in Bergen County alone.
BCCAP is an anti-poverty agency that provides services to low-income individuals to support independence and success. Previously, DMR provided professional services for the BCCAP Head Start Center, also in Garfield. The design converted an 11,000 square foot former warehouse and office space into a preschool. The BCCAP campus in Garfield also includes a Federally Qualified Health Center.
