DMR: From the Archives // The Nigeria Story

It all started in the late 1970s, when our President & Founder, Lloyd Rosenberg, spent several years commuting to Nigeria to complete a major project, the National Educational Technology Center (NETC), in Kaduna. At the time, he was working closely with a local architect, one of the first to form an architecture firm in Nigeria, and became close to him and his young family. One of his children, Kunle Adeyemi, was only a baby at the time.

Thanks to LinkedIn, Lloyd and Kunle were reconnected several years ago. Turns out, Kunle, now the owner of an architecture firm himself, has already had an impressive architectural career. He even earned a post-professional degree here in New Jersey at Princeton University. While Amsterdam is his current home base, and from where he runs his architecture firm (NLÉ), he was back in Princeton in October for a guest lecture. It was at the lecture that after nearly 40 years, Lloyd and Kunle were reunited. With some time still left on his United States trip, a few days later, Kunle made his way to DMR and got to meet the rest of our staff.

Lloyd's extensive international design experience is a significant part of DMR's history, and his memories of this time are some of our staff's favorite stories to hear. Please see the link below for some photos from then and now.
