Daniel Hauben, PP, AICP, LEED Green Associate

Sr. Project Planner

Daniel joined the DMR planning team in 2019, bolstering the capabilities of the department with his wide-range of public policy experience.

A New Jersey-licensed and AICP-certified professional planner, prior to joining DMR, Daniel spent five years working alongside New Jersey municipalities on projects such as sewer service planning, transportation improvements, park design, post-Superstorm Sandy resiliency, and most notably, affordable housing planning, where he consulted more than two dozen municipalities across the state on satisfying their Mount Laurel obligations. Before becoming a planner, Daniel’s professional experience centered around community reinvestment, public health and workforce development, further strengthening his well-versed experiences in the areas of economic development and community development.

At DMR, Daniel’s work centers primarily around site feasibility and zoning analyses for new development, master planning, redevelopment planning, comprehensive zoning, creating schematic designs and concept plans, affordable housing, and more recently, adult-use cannabis, resiliency, and renewable energy planning.

A LEED Green Associate, Daniel is also committed to sustainability and utilizing his knowledge as a professional planner to build sustainable communities. His commitment is seen through many projects at DMR, including the State’s first Community Energy Plan and the Dunellen Climate Resiliency Plan. An active supporter of sustainable planning advocacy groups including New Jersey Future and Sustainable Jersey, he has consulted on the guidance documents that outline how municipalities can respond to climate vulnerability assessments required as part of their master plan updates. He also serves on his local Environmental Commission and is a volunteer through the American Planning Association, Community Planning Assistance Program (CPAP), which provides volunteer planning services to municipalities.
