DMR worked with New Jersey City University (NJCU) on a Higher Education Facilities Trust Fund (HEFT) grant application, seeking funding for renovations to two floors of the existing library into a learning commons.
Following the success of small renovations that proved to bring more students to the library and engage in tutoring services, NJCU sought support of a larger vision that would provide space to support modern hybrid learning, career services, faculty support and collaboration spaces that the University previously lacked. On the first floor, NJCU sought to renovate 12,000 SF into multipurpose lounge and gathering space; an expanded and centrally located Career Success Lab; multiple HyFlex classrooms; a STEM tutoring lab and a Center for Writing Excellence. On the fourth floor, the proposed project sought to renovate 11,000 SF into more collaboration and HyFlex classroom space, and dedicated spaces for the Office of Grants, Research, and Sponsored Programs; Center for Online Learning; and Center for Teaching and Learning.
DMR’s support of the application included helping finalize the program and develop preliminary floor plans, cost estimates and concept designs.
