DMR completed three specialty suites at St. Peter’s University Hospital for the oncology, surgery and cardiology departments. Collectively, the projects blend an understanding of professional standards with creating an aesthetic that engages medical personnel and patients, resulting in outstanding functionality and comfort for patients. In designing the projects, DMR paid particular attention to spatial experiences, recognizing that elements such as calming materials, privacy and clear wayfinding impact both services and healing.
In the 5,000 SF oncology suite, DMR’s design accommodated for a new Linear Accelerator (LINAC) machine. To portray feelings of warmth and calm, DMR called for imagery on the ceiling to enhance the visual environment, providing a distraction from the serious nature of the visit.
