When the new Carteret Junior High School opened, constructed on the site of Carteret High School and connected to the school via pedestrian bridge, the three-story entrance, located on a busy corner, provided a grand identity. The existing high school entrance, located just down the road, lacked the same identity and visual impact.
DMR worked with the district to design a new entrance that would build the same esteem, with the added benefit of the enhanced security and neighborhood connection that often come with similar projects. Improved security includes a bullet-resistant security vestibule, security station and metal detector, with the design still seamlessly integrating into the predominately residential area.
