NJSEA – Firehouse at MetLife Stadium

In anticipation of hosting the 2026 World Cup, the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority (NJSEA), the owner and operator of the 82,000+ seat MetLife Stadium, contracted DMR to provide critical updates to the existing fire house located within the sports complex.

As the venue prepares to host numerous matches, including the final match, many infrastructure upgrades were required. As part of a two-phase project, the NJSEA will first complete the upgrades required to host the event, including securing and constructing space for two new apparatus. A second phase to be completed after the World Cup will continue to improve the existing facility.

DMR’s scope included an initial feasibility study which assessed the functionality of the existing facility and explored addition and renovation options. Following the feasibility study, DMR outlined how to phase the projects to meet demands while also ensuring functions of the 24/7 operation remained uninterrupted.

The project comprises of a renovation and two new additions, totaling 13,000 SF. The first phase entails a 4,000 SF addition and renovation including the two new apparatus bays and associated storage space.

The second phase will include a 6,000 SF renovation of the day room, fitness room, offices and existing apparatus bay and a 2,000 SF addition for new officer quarters, bunk rooms and locker rooms. A new public vestibule was also added to improve visitor access.
