DMR completed the Township Police Headquarters in Wayne, NJ, an addition and renovation project that updated the facility, located within the existing municipal complex.
A new police station had been a goal of the Township for more than 10 years. The previous facility was aging and lacked critical security elements such as a sally port, creating an unsafe environment for residents using any of the services at the municipal complex. The facility also lacked elevators, evidence lockers, lockers for female officers, and ample space for officers to speak confidentially to members of the public. DMR was hired to examine all options for renovation or new construction, ultimately examining four different options and presenting concept plans and preliminary construction budgets for each option.
The Wayne Police Department selected to construct a two-story, 13,000 SF addition while renovating another 13,000 SF of the existing building, with the new facility now offering a sally port, holding cells, processing room, interview rooms, waiting area, lineup area, police offices, lockers, showers and key personnel offices.
