Carlstadt Public School is an 110,000 SF community school serving grades preK-8. It was the first LEED Silver certified public school in New Jersey, and the first LEED Certified building in Bergen County.
Sustainable features include structural steel and cast-iron pipes of recycled materials, chemical-free paints and adhesives, recycling centers on every floor, green housekeeping, aerating faucets which save approximately 140,000 gallons of water each year, lighting motions sensors, drought-resistant plants, carpets and bathroom partitions made of recycled materials, and preferred parking for those who carpool. 95% of the project’s construction debris was recycled.
