Kurt Vierheilig, AIA, LEED AP
Director of Design, Partner
Kurt joined DMR in 1999 and rose through the ranks from intern to Director of Design and Partner. He leads the creative design studio where he acts as the lead designer on high-profile projects.
Kurt’s work at DMR has covered all aspects of the profession, from programming and design to project management and construction project oversight. Kurt has worked on hundreds of projects in both the public and private sector, including mixed-use, institutional, residential and commercial projects. He is among the most talented and innovative architects in the region, demonstrating a passion for finding new and unique ways to express architectural meaning through form, function and sustainability. He starts every project by listening to the needs of the owners and users of a building and developing the design around their requirements. His design experience has brought him across international borders, designing several projects in China, including the Lishui Transportation Hub and the China Electronics Corporation Building.
When it comes to design, no matter the size or scope of the project, he thrives on figuring out the smallest details and crafting buildings that will stand the test of time.
He is a licensed architect, LEED-accredited professional and member of the United States Green Building Council, and a former Trustee for the Architects League of Northern New Jersey, an American Institute of Architects chapter. He also previously served as the League’s Emerging Professionals Chairperson, promoting the education of early-career architects.
In his free time, he enjoys woodworking and sketching.
